WELCOME!
The PCA welcomes you and your family to Nashville for the 38th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America.
Nashville Presbytery, our host for the 2010 Assembly, has chosen as our theme “Love, Sing, Wonder.” It is their prayer and ours that together we may be drawn in worship and fellowship to LOVE Christ and His people more deeply, SING His praises more heartily, and WONDER ever more humbly at His redeeming grace.
General Assembly is our one annual denomination-wide gathering of PCA teaching and ruling elders, their families, and visitors. Our primary focus as commissioners is ecclesiastical business, reviewing the ministries of our denomination over the past year, preparing for future ministries, and dealing with significant theological issues. But we also assemble for worship, fellowship, training, and networking, all of which are significant in the life of the Church.
Please pray that as an Assembly we will deal with the matters before us in ways that are biblically based and honoring to the Lord so that we may live up to our guiding principle to be “Faithful to the Scriptures, True to the Reformed Faith, and Obedient to the Great Commission.”
We are delighted that you and your family are joining us in this city rich in musical tradition. As we work, worship, and fellowship, may we be encouraged to sing and make melody in our hearts – and together – to the Lord.
L. Roy Taylor,
Stated Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America
2010 General Assembly
Convention Center & Blocked Hotels Received No Flood Damage
May
5, 2010 - The PCA Administrative Committee Office is happy to report
that the Nashville Convention Center and the hotels serving us during
the upcoming PCA General Assembly June 29 – July 2, 2010, are fully
functional and looking forward to hosting the Assembly. The PCA
Administrative Committee Office has been in contact with the Nashville
Convention Center, Renaissance Nashville Hotel, Sheraton Nashville
Hotel, and Millennium Maxwell House, and all properties were blessed
and not affected by any of the flood damage.
Jimmy
Couch, chairman of Nashville Presbytery Host Committee, reports that
the committee is looking forward eagerly to hosting our PCA family.
Much prayer gone into their planning efforts, and they will greatly
appreciate our continued prayers as they finalize details. Wonderful
plans for women’s and children’s programs are moving ahead, and Jimmy
reminds commissioners to sign up for the Hymnsing Wednesday night at
the Historic Ryman Auditorium, also undamaged by the flood. He also
requests our intercession for the many who are involved in flood
clean-up throughout the Nashville area.
We
have much to thank God for. In His gracious providence He led us to
facilities which were not damaged by the flood waters. Pray with us
that God in his mercy will strengthen, protect, and empower His people
there in love and service, and pray that our PCA Assembly in Nashville
will be blessing to that community, which has seen such devastation.
